Cecily Bauchmann, a popular TikToker, recently faced backlash for bringing her four children to Disney World while Hurricane Milton approached Florida.
After her initial video went viral, she posted a follow-up on October 10, acknowledging her mistake and taking responsibility.
“Hey guys I wanted to make a video from my last video before leaving to go to Florida and just explain everything,” Cecily said.
She clarified that her family was no longer in Florida, having left for Nashville once evacuation orders were issued.
Despite being informed by the hotel that they could still accommodate them, Cecily admitted, “Bad decision.”
Reflecting on her choice, she shared, “Do I regret it? Absolutely. I am very naive when it comes to the way storms develop and how quickly they develop. Looking back, that is something I wish I could change.”
In her apology, Cecily mentioned her commitment to supporting relief organizations aiding those affected by the hurricane.
Many social media users pointed out the implications of her initial decision to travel, with one Reddit user commenting, “She’s taking away resources from actual Floridians,” while another TikToker criticized her original video, stating, “You have people packing up their whole homes inside of their vehicle, not knowing if they’re gonna see their homes again.”
For those looking to support relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Milton, organizations such as the American Red Cross and Team Rubicon are valuable resources to consider.
